POLICE INTELLIGENCE.
TUESDAY.
ELIZABETH TURLEY (Ticker-of-leave) was taken into custody on the previous evening, by FOX, for making an extraordinary noise in blowing up her husband, whom she was calling most profane names. The injured man personally appeared and alleged the lady was an angel, and would have been still so did she not see some female acquaintance, as had been the present instance, and take her away to ball it off, and having found her astonishing the audience of a public house Tap Room, by some tremenduous [sic] displays on the light fantastic toe, he watched his opportunity to take her shoes from off her feet, as a night’s dancing wore them out more than a month’s walking, and in the hope that as the tap-room floor was rather rough, it might contract her hop, whereat, ELIZABETH being malty, and finding her dance spoilt, came “reeling” towards him, and opened on him a sharp fire of abuse—Seven days to the cells. Her husband thanked his Worship. On her leaving the Court, a scene occurred about the possession of a child the husband brought to the Court with him, and which ELIZABETH snatched from him, vowing she would take it to the Factory, but which the husband re-matched back, saying, he would keep it, and then mamma made another grab. The scene was affectingly pathetic, and would have been worth a month’s salary to any of the Victoria actors, who do the heavy Fathers, to have witnessed, as lesson for their histrionic displays.
