Mary Stewart

Evidence Type: Newspaper Report
DATE: 21 June 1845

POLICE INTELLIGENCE.

TUESDAY.

MARY STEWART (bond) was charged with being guilty of the gross impropriety of walking with a being of the opposite sex, at an unseasonable hour of the preceding night, in a by-street of the town, skewering a poor devil’s heart, instead of broiling kidneys for her “missuss” supper. The prisoner, on being called on for her defence, stated she thought the constable had said enough—and so he had, for she was sent to the Factory.
