POLICE INTELLIGENCE.
MONDAY.
MARY McCANN AGAIN !!!!! —This indefatigable employer of Police attentions, curtsied about the fiftieth time to the Bench. The kindness of the Police Magistrate on Saturday, in forgiving the slight breach of sobriety on Friday, was the cause of her present appearance. The cold incident on a night being spent in the watch-house, had produced a pain in the abdominal regions, and to take the chill off, she had taken so many gills “hot with sugar,” that she became perfectly fiery herself, and sour to others, and a publican’s wife refusing to supply her with any more, she informed her that she was a scaly person, in her of-fish-iousness to keep her sober—prefixing to every substantive of vituperation, as many eugolistic [sic] adjectives as a bullock driver would bestow on his animals to get them over a swamp, or up a hill. As MARY had been in town for about a fortnight, it was deemed her absence from her usual “country quarters” had been sufficiently long, and she was therefore returned to the Factory for three months.
