POLICE INTELLIGENCE.

FRIDAY.

JANE JAMES [sic: JANE JONES], who was charged with having stolen some wearing apparel, the property of MARY SLEEP [sic: MARY STEEP], into whose house, during her absence, the person in charge of it had invited the accused, for purposes unnecessary to mention! A gown and petticoat being found on JAMES [sic: JONES] there could be no doubt of her guilt, and she was committed for trial. “That old familiar fact,” MARY McCANN, who was taken on suspicion of being concerned in the robbery, was discharged—and a man named SHOEBRIDGE who had invited JAMES [sic: JONES] to SLEEP’s [sic: STEEP’s] house, was sentenced 7 days cells, for gross misbehaviour while giving evidence.
