A GOOD WIFE!
ELLEN HAGHE (bond), apprehended for being illegally at large from her husband. This interesting specimen of her sex, had obtained a pass from her good man, to proceed to Windsor, to visit a friend, but when taken into custody had proceeded no further than a hut in the Government Domain, where it was stated that the particular individual, a male “cousin,” whom she was about to visit, had obligingly come to meet her, so as to save her the proposed journey. As her character stood high for faithfulness—to rum, brandy, gin, and malt liquors when spirits were not attainable—and “constancy” in always being absent from her husband whenever he let her from under his eye, she was sent to the 3rd Class for three months.
