POLICE INTELLIGENCE.

SATURDAY.

MARY CAIN (bond) was charged by constable HOTHAM, with gratuitously exhibiting herself while under the influence of her Christmas cup, in a yard in Church-street, in such a public manner, that both the laws of decency as well as those of the colony were grievously offended, more particularly as MARY had not been cast in the same mould that formed the Venus de Medicis—The Bench not agreeing with the Poet’s dictum that “Beauty when unadorned is adorned the most,” or rather than the gown, petticoat, and etcetera of under garments being turned over the wearer’s head, did not constitute Pope’s idea of unadornment—sent CAIN to the factory for two months, to discover the naked truth of the matter.
