PARRAMATTA QUARTER SESSIONS
THURSDAY, 4TH APRIL, 1844
The Court resumed its sittings at ten o’clock this morning. On the Bench, with the learned Chairman, were, GILBERT ELIOTT, Esq., P. M., Dr. ANDERSON, J. P., and W. LAWSON, Esq., M. C.
ANN HANREY,* free by servitude, stealing starch. The case was a simple one, and very clearly proved. The prisoner, who had been only a few days previously discharged from the Factory, on her becoming free, was prevented enjoying the full use of her freedom, in trying her hand on her Majesty’s lieges, for the next six months, by a domiciliation in the Factory for that period, during which time, to prevent corpulence, it was directed, that a due quantity of hard labour should be exacted from her.
