Evidence Type: Newspaper Report
21 March 1834
MONDAY.—MARY GOUGH was handed to the bar rolling her eyes most knowingly at the Bench, charged with a few peccadilloes, bolting, drinking, and encouraging the male kind. The charge having been duly proved, MARY raised her hands above her head, and most solemnly avowed that there was not one word of truth in the whole statement—in fact she never patronized any thing of the kind.—Quite the rewerse was her motto. Having nothing further to urge, the Bench gave her twenty eight days at GORDON’S Refectory.
MARY left the bar snivelling, from either eye.
