BRIDGET SMITH, glowing like a red hot warming pan, was charged with absenting herself and getting drunk; she was found leaning against a door post in York Street munching an apple, and was secured. The mistress gave her a shocking bad character for gallivanting through the streets at all hours of the day and night, the prisoner retorted that her mistress kept a fiddle, to the lively strain of which she was allowed to dance with any young man that might drop in, and further, that her master attempted to take indendent liberties with her, of which she had complained to her mistress, but without success, this was …and the Bench said they were perfectly au fait with this system of recrimination, and sent her to the [2d?] class for 28 days.
