ATTEMPT AT SUICIDE.

A woman named EMMA ARMSTRONG, under a sentence from a Court of Summary Jurisdiction, at Windsor of six months in third class factory, Parramatta, during the late assize attempted to hang herself about nine o’clock, one evening, by fastening a silk handkerchief to a cross bar over the confine’s door, at the other end making a sailor’s knot, and then mounting a bucket, which enabled her to slip the noose over her head, and then she kicked the bucket away. A fellow prisoner immediately alarmed the turnkey and a sentinel, who hurried to her rescue, cut the silken destroyer of life, when down plopped the deluded creature and she is now in the land of the living. The woman is 55 years of age, and is not generally thought to be in love!
