Catherine Meehan

Evidence Type: Newspaper Report
5 December 1829

One KATE, or to be genteel, CATHERINE MEEHAN, an antiquated matron, whose visage and whole person displayed most striking marks of disorder, and of being plenteously deluged with strong comforts, was charged with using abusive language, and most uproarious conduct, to which the disordered matron pleaded, that it was all “spite,” and that she never interfered to harm man or mortal in her life; but the Bench little heeding this part of the story, condemned her to a seclusion in the factory for a “full moon.”
