MARGARET HOGAN, a single woman, was indicted for stealing a pair of gloves, and some plated pictures.
The prosecutor, Mr. FREDERICK GARLING, junior, deposed to losing, on the 28th of may last, from a drawer in his writing desk, at the wharfinger’s office, on the King’s Wharf, the articles in question. WILLIAMS, a tide-waiter falling in with the prisoner, and suspecting she had been doing something wrong, took the damsel in custody, and searching her person, found the lost articles in her possession which the traverser swears to. The Jury found the prisoner guilty. Sentenced six months to the third class in the Factory, at hard labor.
