Ann Jackson

Evidence Type: Newspaper Report
29 June 1827

The bushrangers whom we mentioned in our last, to have been captured at a place near to Wooloworra River, have since been examined before the Magistrates and remanded. They are suspected to be implicated in several robberies while in the bush.

The woman prisoner, ANN JACKSON, has been dealt with by the Magistrates in a summary way. The excuse set up by this prisoner for her having taken to the bush, was that the rations served out in the Factory, from whence she run, was insufficient. The bench sentenced her to be returned to the Factory, and be kept in the third class for twelve months.
