Unidentified Woman

Evidence Type: Newspaper Report
27 June 1827

A young woman, and a native of the Colony, on the complaint of her proper husband, who is master of a small trading craft now in the harbour, was condemned to a seclusion of three months amongst the third class in the factory, for leaving her home and becoming a dissolute character. The young woman admitted she had no fault whatever to find with her husband’s conduct towards her. She had run a merry rig of late, but however it might cut against the grain, should for a season at least renounce the pomp and vanity of this wicked world, and all the sinful lusts of the flesh.
