Evidence Type: Newspaper Report
5 July 1826
MARY SHERRARD, an assigned servant, was charged with absenting herself from her assigned master’s roof, for the space of several hours, without leave. A constable met with the damsel in a certain house which does not bear the best nor chasest of characters, so taking her under his protection, he hied her away to her master, who, however, declined making an deposition, and the woman was accordingly ordered to be returned to the Factory.
