WASHING IN THE FEMALE FACTORY

A long and tedious discussion ensued upon Dr. BLAND moving that the Petition presented by him on this subject, be taken into consideration. Dr. BLAND, Dr. LANG, Mr. WENTWORTH, and Mr. WINDEYER each addressing the Council at some length thereupon. Dr. BLAND ultimately obtained leave to withdraw the Petition, on the Colonial Secretary undertaking to recommend the prayer of it to the favourable consideration of the Executive Government.

Mr BLAND also withdrew, by leave, the Petitions presented by him from WILLIAM WALSH, and ALFRED H. AUSTIN.
