TRANSCRIBER’S NOTES: ELIZA PALMER, wife of JOHN PALMER, was born in the Colony and not, therefore, a convict who had been transported here from elsewhere. ‘Col.l‘ refers to a colonial sentence she received in May 1827. Bother ELIZA and her husband JOHN were tried and convicted of a house robbery in Sydney and sentenced to seven years’ transportation. ELIZA’s sentence was apparently reduced to three years and was being spent in confinement at the Parramatta Female Factory. News reports state that ELIZA was orphaned in the colony at a young age. Further research required to identify her maiden name.
