TRANSCRIBER’S NOTES: HANNAH PENDERGRASS was originally transported as HANNAH KNIGHT per Canada (2) (1810). Re: Col.l: this abbreviation means ‘Colonial’ and refers to the fact that HANNAH was tried and convicted for a secondary offence in the Colony (Grand Larceny: receiving stolen property from bushrangers) and sentenced in March 1826 to a further seven years’ confinement in the Parramatta Female Factory, but she was eventually pardoned in June 1831 when some favourable evidence came to light.
