NUMBER: 153
NAME: ALICE …LEY [illegible] [see Notes]
AGE: 29
CLASS: P [sic: Prisoner]
ARRIVAL SHIP & YEAR: Maria 1818 [sic: Maria I (1) (1818)]
SENTENCE: 14 years
EMPLOYMENT: not recorded
RESIDENCE: Government Factory, Parramatta [Parramatta Female Factory]
RELIGION: Catholic
TRANSCRIBER’S NOTES: The surname is illegible in the original record, but there were only two women aboard the Maria I (1) (1818) logged with the given name ‘Alice’ and only one of them had a sentence of 14 years, namely ALICE WILCOCK. In an 1825 muster, ALICE WILCOCK was recorded as the ‘Wife of P. MORLEY’ (or potentially MARLEY/MAILEY) of ‘Sydney.’ Again, the writing was hard to decipher, and no marriage record has been found yet to clarify the married surname; however, it is most likely that it was ALICE WILCOCK who was mustered at the Factory in the 1828 Census. Further research required.
