Mary Cavanagh

Convict woman incarcerated in the Parramatta Female Factory.

  • Alternate: Mary Brown

Police Reports

MARY BROWN, formerly CAVANAGH, the dissolute and incorrigible wife of poor JOHN BROWN, was brought up to answer a charge preferred by her agitated and disconsolate husband, for having absented herself from his home and his protection for the space of two days, during which time she was in a state of extreme intoxication, and senseless; the Bench relieved the husband of this very annoying incumbrance, by sentencing the wife to a sober privation, of three months in the factory.
