Emma Holton

Possibly a convict woman incarcerated at the Parramatta Female Factory. Mother of CHARLES HOLTON. It is not clear if the name recorded in Charles’s baptism record was correct, as no “EMMA HOLTON” can be found in sources relating to New South Wales in this period. There was a convict named EMMA BOLTON in Tasmania who received a ticket of leave just a couple of months after Charles’s birth, but this cannot be her, since she could not have been in Parramatta in March and April 1841 if the ticket of leave was only issued
